Good Question, And I Would Say Yes, I Am A Ghanaian Who Live In The United States, And Since The Day Mr. Annan Become General Of The U.N I Have Followed His Every Move, In And Out Of The United State, He Has Faced Some Of The Toughest Leaders Of The World From Saddam Hussein To President Bush,From Nelson Mandela To Fidel Castro, From The United Kingdom To The Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia, And He Has Handled Some Of The World's Most Difficult Crisis From Kosovo To The Israeli And Palestinian Conflicts, From The Conflict In Dafur To The Conflict In Somalia, From The War In Iraq To The Nuclear Tention In Iran, I Must Say There Is Not A Single Soul In Ghana Who Posseses The Kind Of Experience That Mr. Annan Posses, He Has Seen It All And Should He Decide To Run For President In Ghana I Believe Ghanaians Would Vote For Him And Ghana Will Benefit From This Son Of Her's, If He Decide Not To Run For Preesident We Ghanaians Would Like To See Him Get Involve In The Political Process, One Way Or The Other Mr. Kofi Annan Must Serve Ghana With The Skills And Experience He Has Aquired As The Head Of The United States.

KOFI ANNAN PRIOR TO HIS DEPATURE FROM GHANA HAS NEVER HELD ANY PUBLIC OFFICE BEFORE 2. KOFI ANNAN DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE KIND OF DIFFICULTY GHANA IS FACING SINCE HE HAS NOT SPENT ENOUGH TIME UNDER THE SYSTEM OF GHANA, AS FAR AS THE PRESIDENCY OF GHANA IS CONCERN GHANANEEDS A LOCAL LEADER WHO HAS SPENT HIS MOST OF HIS OR HER LIFE UNDER THE SYSTEM AND UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION OF THE GHANA PEOPLE, 3. JUST BECAUSE KOFI ANNAN HAS HEADED THE UNITED NATIONS DOESNT AUTOMATICALLY MEANS HE CAN RULE A COUNTRY, THE UNITED NATIONS IS AN ORGANIZATION OF SOME FEW REPRESENTATIVES, WHILE GHANA IS A COUNTRY OF ABOUT 22 MILLION PEOPLE, EVEN IN THE UNITED NATIONS THE SEC GENERAL DOES NOT RULE THE BODY HE LEADS IT, 4. THE UNITED NATIONS IS A DEBATING HALL IN WHICH MEMBERS DEBATE ON WORLD CONFLICTS, BUT BEING A PRESIDENT TAKE MORE THAN JUST DEBATING, 5. MAY THE FORMER GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS MR. KOFI ANNAN CAN HELP OUR PARLIAMENTARY MEMBERS TO DEVELOP GOOD DEBATING SKILLS SO THAT THEY CAN DEBATE PROPERLY ON ISSUES BEFORE THEY PASS LAWS. THANK YOU

To Togbe: I do agree with you. Beign a secretary general doesn't automatically means that one can become a president of a country. He has done well as a secretary general of the UN. He can help the ghana paliament with his skills, but to run for an election, i don't think it will work. i rest my voice.

Its true that he`s been away for long but let me tell you,you are one of those who are afraid of CHANGE.If Kofi Annan should stand for presidency he will win by margine,voted by his own country people.You do not have to live in Ghana to see how people are suffering.Its all over in the news.Even those who say they know more about Ghana,what are they doing?Its time someone like Kofi Annan,get the chance to change Ghana for good. Its the experience that matters,I will even suggest Africa should unite,and Kofi Annan should be the President.I should give you an examples.People have been doing farming for so long but they still rely on (Kwesi Bronnie)to tell them how to grow their plants,how typical.Ghana needs a young sensible and experienced person,to stand for Presidnecy,but where are they.when I say young I mean 35-50.Anyone above this age is already on mental retirment.Open your doors for a change

Being a leader at the UN is not the same as leader of a nation, as the second contributor said. It is far more demanding than a UN boss.
Secondly, let’s be candid and call a spade a spade-not big spoon! What did Kofi Annan do as a UN Boss for 8 years? What was his achievement? He was the boss when babies and women were slaughtered like sacrificial lambs! He could not solve even the problem in Darfur, where Arabs are killing innocent black-people. If Kofi Annan had been a white-person, some of us would have raised the ‘racist’ card.
On his last meet-the-press conference, he mentioned the war in Iraq, the dead of UN-workers at Iraq and the scandal of his son as the three most tragic things in his time at the helm of affairs.
No Darfur.
No Burundi and Rwanda.
No Somalia.
Kofi Annan? Well, do U guys think the Presidency is ‘beads wearing competition’?

Hello My Fellow Ghanaians, Kofi Annan Has Done Africa A Lot Of Proud At The U.N, As For Point Prosper Made That He Was Not Able To Stop Arabs In Sudan From Killing Blacks Is Not Kofi Annan's Fault As The U.N Boss He Kofi Annan Was Controlled By The United States And Other Big Power Countries At The U.N, If You Study A Lot Of The Facts You Will Realise That KofiAnnan Was Working Under Very Difficult Stands, He Never Had The Full Support Of The Marjority Of The U.N During Major Conflicts, Therefor The Dafur Conflicts Should Be Blame On The U.N In General And Not Kofi Annan. Hellow My Fellow Ghanaians, Let Us All Welcome Our Hero Kofi Annan, For Some Of Us To Suggest Kofi Has Nothing To Offer Ghana I Would Say Is Not Fair, Just Because He Has Spent An Extensive Amount Of Years Outside Ghana Does Not Means He Does Not Know Ghana, I Dont Suggest He Should Jump Right Into Ghana Politics, May Be In A Few Years Time, Kofi Will Make A Very Good Leader And Can Get Ghana A Lot Of Help From World Leaders He Has Worked With Whiles At The UN, If Any Of Us Say Ghana Does Not Need Kofi Annan's Contribution In Politics Or As A President It Is Like Saying The Black Stars Dont Need Stephen Appia Because He Has Been Playing In Europe For Many Years.

Kofi Annan is a man of integrity,and being a Ghanaian I've taken him as my role model,believe me or not,he must not stoop so low to get involved in Ghanaian politics cos we don't appreciate genuine people in Politics.He has had enough stress steering the UN with President G.Bush not heeding his professional advice..He has a lovely family and its time for him to enjoy his wonderful family life.God richly Bless You Uncle Kofi...Leave the dirty politicians to do their dirty work..Just give them a bit of advice because you have the rich experience.

NONSENSE, Kofi Anane was persuing his career, he has done so and conpleted it.
UN intervention is base on a vote by the security council, the leader of UN is just like speaker of parliament - a referee.
An African was UN leader before Kofi Annan, He was Butros Butros Galley, what did he do for Rewandain when the french were making money from the atrocities. Remember France is also a member of the security council and would have objected for any intervention there, so would USA and UK they had interest in neighboring states.

my fellow ghanaians - i think we r due 4 a change. ghanaians r too indulge in stating facts that are not relevant. the future is different from the past and we can only tailor the future to suit us. the past is our background so lets use it for our benefits by taking the good bits and developing them for the future. ghana is not about you and me or the pensioner now its about the next generation. Mr Anan for president - No i don't think would be a good choice however he will win hands down by popularity. i say this because his knowledge of know how and strategic approach are limited to settling and enforcing peace among nations and not of the broader issues mother ghana is facing now. that being said he will be a great asset to the nation as an adviser to the leaders and perhaps to the chief justice. i think ghanaians should stop blaming the leaders and be open minded and listen to the candidate who are running for the post and not be confused with their fix today promises and understand that these leaders are there to serve them the people.i feel ghana needs basic policies and principles which can be develop accordingly but i fear our leaders in parliament has a mind set of self awareness and therefore spent no time planning for tomorrow. tell me how can go forward when all we do and see is me. my fellow ghanaians ghana needs a new regime - a new change - a new youth policy - men of honor and integrity - and above all a new director of people who is adamant to see all plans are executed accordingly and with that i feel we can excel and prosper among other nations.
