Ghanaian deportees continue to arrive from Nigeria
Aflao, March 4, GNA- Another batch of 19 Ghanaians deported from the Federal Republic of Nigeria arrived at the Aflao border Sunday morning unaccompanied by that country's immigration authorities. This brings the number of deportees so far to 44 since Friday February 23 following that country's deportation of illegal immigrants in the run-up to its April general elections.
Eighteen of the latest arrivals, 14 men and four women are from Chorkor in Accra, while the nineteenth person a man said he hails from Takoradi.
They were registered by the Ghana Immigration Service and handed over to the Ketu District NADMO Secretariat where they took their bath and some meals.
The group has since been conveyed to Accra by NADMO officials for further assistance to travel to their various destinations. Mr Abraham Tagoe, 34, and Mrs Emelia Nikoi, leaders of the group said 17 other Ghanaians who could not afford to pay their transportation fares are still stranded at the Nigeria-Benin border where they were dumped last Friday by the Nigerian authorities.
They said more Ghanaians were likely to be caught up in the clamp down on illegal residents before the country's April 2007 general elections.
The deportees alleged that they were picked up at various locations in Akwaibo State and were locked up for two days without food and water and were also denied the opportunity to bring their families along with them. 04 March 07

I can't belief ghanaians could stood so low in front of nigerians. There is no good in that country so why go there for a better life or whatsoever????? and by beign deported in such a shameful way? I wonder what ghana gouvernment is doing about all these. What about those nigerians residing in ghana comiting all kinds of crimes and whatsoever and yet nothing serious is being done about it, ços this can't go on. Ghannaians where is our dignity? Why travel to another african country? It would have been better to stay in ghana and strugle with dignity and make something out of it. Who says if you try your very best you will not succeed? You will! ços it's all about persverance, hardworking and never give up, then you can make it in you own country. Please let's mentain ourselves and respect ourselves to prevent all these shameful situation.

BB its not the matter of ghanains treavling to other african countries or even abroad the matter here is why will nigerians kick their african brothers out of their country that is wickedness if they don't want ghanains to be in their county way not just tell them and they won't go there. One thing i got to say is no country can developed by it self with no foreigners they should ask the Americans, no matter how big a country is or how rich, it will sitll need help from outside. No condition is perminent today may be your lucky day and tomorrow will not be your lucky so way not share your luck day with the unluck person so when it is your unluky day she will share her lucky day with you. no country will beried you when you die it will be your fellow human beings that will beried you. god bless Africa.
