EJURA MUSLIM CONFLICT: TWO ARRESTED

Reports from Ejura say two persons including the Ejura Sekyedumase constituency chairman of the NPP have been arrested in connection with last Sunday's religious conflict between Alsuna and the Tijaniya Muslim groups in the town.

According to the police, the constituency Chairman has been granted a police enquiry bail while a former presiding member of the Assembly is still being held for his role in the incident.

The injured are still on admission. Chief Superintendent Gyenning said the early intervention by the police prevented further casualties adding the situation is now under control.

He said there will be a meeting with the leaders of the two sects as soon as possible to help restore law and order. The Commander appealed to the Muslims to ensure law and order in the town.
