Ama to introduce new by-law on waste management
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly will introduce a by-law that will make people pay for the waste they generate.
AMA's Principal Environmental Health Technologist, Samuel Kpodo, says the policy will help reduce the cost of waste management on the city authorities.
Currently the AMA owes 75 billion cedis to various waste management companies. They note that it is becoming extremely difficult to pay contractors.
Mr. Kpodo announced the decision to introduce the new law at a seminar organized by the City Waste Management Company on the theme: "Waste Management, Cost Reduction."
