In response to you and all others,is that please we are a nation and how can a nation divided stand.Ex president Rawlings might be the worst yet he belongs to us, so is current president Kuffour,no matter their mistakes.I believe president Rawlings came to do his part and whoever comes after him will also come to do his or her part.As a matter of fact president Rawlings can be credited with rural eletricfications and power to the people as will also be credited president kuffour with debt cancellations, despite the fact that all of them have their mistakes. My only advice to Lydia Sonia is that let us all love ourselves and encourage one another God bless Ghana, Rawllings, kuffour and all Ghanaians and the world atlarge

Mr Rawlings has always been one of the few public officers I admire but I wonder if the picture he painted about Ghana truly reflects the reality. Corruption, yes; but intimidation, subjugation, and brutality, I beg to disagree. No wonder the picture of Atta Ayi--the nation's most notorious armed robber--was one of the few used to demostrate the brutal side of the NPP government.

I THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME GHANAIANS PUT THEIR INDIFERENCES ASIDE (POLITICAL AFFILIATION (NDC OR NPP) AND THINK ABOUT WHAT IS GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY GHANA.
WE ALL KNOW ABOUT SOME OF THE ATROCITIES THAT HAPPENED DURING THE REIN OF PRESIDENT RAWLINGS BUT LOOKING AT THE POSITIVE SIDE, I THINK HIS GOVERNMENT STABALIZED THE COUNTRY.
GHANA HAS BEEN VERY STABLE AND YOU CAN LOOK AT OUR NEIGHBORING CONTRIES AND THAT IS EVIDENCE ENOUGH.

As a Nigerian-this web-blog was recommended to me by a Ghanaian friend, Mensah-, I find Rawlings interview refreshing. Rawlings has spoken on issues ranging from corruption, empowerment and dis empowerment, to neo-capitalism.

What Rawlings has done here is to draw the attention of Ghanaians to the explosive undercurrents of their country's democratic transition; the effects on her structures of power, portents and prospects for the future. Rawlings should be applauded for his courage in dis-entangling the myths surrounding issues and policies in contemporary Ghana rather than vilified.

I agree with Rawlings that democracy, good governance and development cannot thrive in an environment riddled with corruption. Where corruption is the fundamental principle of country's policy, the future of that country is doomed.

I have worries for Ghana as I do for my country, Nigeria. Ghana, like Nigeria, with her huge history of culture and of radical Pan-African ideology, holds great prospect for the black race. If patriotic Ghanaians could heed Rawlings concern by forging common fronts against corruption and the abuses of power, Ghana would have begun the quest for giving hope and succor to black men and women where ever they find themselves. And the urgency of the task is even greater now that Ghana has discovered crude oil. Oil comes with its curse. It creates new classes of thieves.
