The amount covers all fees involved in the registration with the District Mutual Health Insurance scheme, Mr John Kwesi Takyi, leader of persons with disabilities in the district said at Winneba.
While commending the Assembly for aiding disabled person, Mr Takyi said the abuse of their rights could partly be attributed to "lack of strong political will” by most assemblies to consciously invest in them.
Mr Takyi appealed to the Assembly to initiate a community-based rehabilitation programmes to promote rehabilitation and social inclusion of persons with disability.
He said this would not only promote the rights of person with disability but also address the impoverish conditions under which most of them lived.
Mr Joseph Owusu-Kwarteng, Public Relation of the District Health Insurance Scheme said, his outfit had so far registered and issued cards to about 120,000 people, representing 70.7 percent of the targeted number of 188,000 in the district.
