Nigeria Invites Nana
The NPP flagbearer, who recently toured some neighbouring West African countries including Togo, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea where he met with heads of state and government, is expected to touch down at the Nigerian capital, Abuja today at the invitation of the respected Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Nana, a lawyer by profession, is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the annual conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Sources close to the former Foreign Affairs Minister told DAILY GUIDE that Nana Addo will address the Nigerian Bar at the Hilton Hotel in Abuja today on regional integration.
His speech is expected to touch on the African Renaissance, especially how Nigeria and Ghana can work together to ensure speedy integration in the West African sub-region, citing the role played by France and Germany in the revival of Europe leading to its eventual unification.
Nana Akufo-Addo, who spent the Easter holidays on the Kwahu Mountains in the Eastern Region where he took his message of hope to the people, performed a similar role of guest speaker two weeks ago at the British House of Commons in London when a documentary on Prof Kofi Abrefa Busia, Ghana’s Second Republic Prime Minister was premiered.
He used the occasion to outline his vision, if elected President on December 7, 2008.
Nana Akufo-Addo spoke about the structural transformation of the Ghanaian economy, which relies heavily on export of raw agricultural products.
He indicated that his government would make education a top priority.
“Education is vital to transform the country,” he stated.
He called for free and fair elections in December, saying that the integrity of the electoral process should not be compromised.
The former minister noted that a free and fair election would deny rabble-rousers the opportunity to pick holes in the process.
