MILLS IS A WILD DOG - Says Nduom
Inferring that Prof. John Evans Atta Mills had been relying on wild dogs to attack others for him, Dr. Nduom’s campaign office said the National Democratic Congress had thus not changed a bit from its old habit of ferociously barking at and hitting its opponents at the least opportunity.
The camp of Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom therefore urged the country’s largest opposition political party to take things easy in the political ballgame lest it destroys itself in the eyes of the discerning Ghanaian voting public.
This was contained in a response to the Mills Office attacks on the Convention People’s Party (CPP) candidate over a speech he made in Cape Coast on Monday.
“It had been thought that Prof. Atta Mills represented the ‘new’, softer side of the NDC. Obviously not! He cannot hide behind attack dogs and continue to claim the title, “Asomdweehen”, it noted.
The glaringly displeased CPP boys stated further that “the document put out by the Atta Mills Campaign Office perhaps is typical of the approach adopted by the old NDC – hit everything that moves without looking and in the process self-destruct”.
The rebuttal explained that at the Central Regional capital, Dr. Nduom merely asked the electorate to enquire from all the four flagbearers so far elected by their parties about what they had done for the Central Region in particular and Ghana in general to deserve their vote come December.
The response from the Nduom camp counseled those in charge of the Mills Campaign Office to desist from violent attacks of opponents.
“But his office has assumed that he is being attacked and they have struck. Perhaps they should keep the ink wet and the ammunition handy,” it advised the NDC.
According to the response, since Mills, Nana Akufo-Addo, and Dr. Nduom had each served in political office under the Fourth Republic, it was just proper that they accounted for their stewardship to the electorate.
“Prof. Atta Mills served as Vice President and Chairman of the Economic Management Team of the NDC. Nana Akuffo Addo served as Minister of Justice/Attorney General and Minister for Foreign Affairs. Dr. Nduom served as Minister of Economic Planning & Regional Cooperation, Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Minister of Energy, Chairman of the Millennium Development Authority and Minister of Public Sector Reform. Each one of them should tell the Ghanaian public what they did when they served in government that is visible and benefited the people and the country and for which they deserve to become the next President”.
It would be recalled that the Mills office, based upon a newspaper report on Tuesday, hurled vituperations at the CPP candidate, alleging that he was using their flagbearer as a punching bag.
“We are not surprised that in wanting to make himself relevant in the political equation, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom chooses to expose his gross ignorance of the development path of the Central Region, taking an uninformed swipe at Professor John Evans Atta Mills”.
Calling him an ignorant person for nearly two dozen times in its response, the Mills office said Nduom rather needed to be schooled.
But the CPP boys fired back yesterday, contending that the professor should speak up, instead of hiding behind what they called ‘attack dogs’. They said Dr. Nduom had prepared his balance sheet and was sharing it with the Ghanaian public and asked Mills to come out for a debate. “This is the challenge thrown by Dr. Nduom. Ghanaians will be better off if Prof. Atta Mills himself will pick up the challenge and tell Ghanaians specifically, what he has done to merit their vote”, they dared him. source: Daily Guide
